A great year for Jay Vegas as he makes a leap up from #21 in 2019. His own imprint, Hot Stuff, also had a solid year with a number of successful releases cementing him as one of the most consistent artists out there with the magic ability to add his own unique disco twist to a big room sound. His remix of South Soul Symphony's 'Need Me' was an effortless ray of sunshine through the window, a real feel-good, shake-it-off optimistic number with a killer groove tucked away in the back. 'Luv Drug 2020' saw Mr Vegas in full flight - keys, a hint of jackin flavor and an irresistibly empowering vocal, it soared through our charts. 'Set U Free' had a hint of 90s stabs and a big organic beat for an early hours dancefloor driver, just like 'Deep Inside' - visions of smoke machines and the early morning journey in full effect with its unrelenting groove and loop. House power in full effect!

Honey Dijon's legacy grew even stronger in 2020 marking it yet another landmark year.Climbing all the way from #37 in 2019, she continued to serve up remixes and original productions galore - pulling us all back to the origins and reminding us of Chicago's spirit and importance in shaping dance music culture. She continues to provide a universally-respected voice and platform on matters relating to gender and race - both important now more than ever. In the studio, Honey Dijon showed us that it's still about fun - it's about a vibe. From her harder and more thundering edge, to the more playful sounds and collaborations with equally exciting artists - she brought it all this year. Louie Vega & The Martinez Brothers feat. Marc E. Bassy's smash 'Let It Go' received rework magic, pushing the track in a harder direction. Cakes Da Killa made a return after featuring on 'Catch The Beat' in 2017 for his solo debut on Classic Music Company with 'Don Dada' - naturally Honey Dijon teamed up with Luke Solomon to make sure it thoroughly destroyed the dancefloor - big sirens and tough beats pushed it to the next level. Love Regenerator and Steve Lacy's 'Live Without Your Love' saw her flex a funkier, more laid back take alongside a host of other remixes on Defected. 'Let A Bitch Know' was the ultimate combination, taking Kiddy Smile's vocals straight to the darkest depths of the early-hours dancefloor - hypnotic, driving, deep and outright dangerous - rounding off a strong release for Glitterbox. 'Not About You' feat. Hadiya George offered a teaser of her upcoming album - 'Black Girl Magic' - signalling exactly what we thought, it's going to be a high-quality affair laden with all of the unique Honey Dijon signature sounds. 'Strike It' served as a celebration of ballroom culture, teaming up with Mike Dunn and Ruff N' Stuff's powerful vocal paired with that classic HD big room beat. Standout cut 'John's Church' - a remix of Oliver Dollar's 'Another Day Another Dollar' (originally produced in collaboration with German producer Nils Ohrmann) made the ground shake when it landed in Classic Music Company thanks to its atmospheric keys and intense build ups. All in a year's work for Honey Dijon, we can't wait to find out what's coming up in 2021

Yet another strong chapter in Moon Rocket's story, as he remains one of the driving forces behind original music in our Top 100 House Artists category. The former NYC and now Miami-based Producer, DJ and accomplished piano and hammond organ player scored a number of highly successful releases finding their way into countless charts throughout the year thanks to his catchy rhythms and melodies. Defected, Mood Funk, Deepvisionz, Reel People Music, Let There Be House and of course his own flourishing imprint, Moon Rocket Music, all served as the jump off for many standout cuts. A notable achievement was his remix of OFFAIAH's monster 'Private Dancer' on Defected where he dropped a stripped back version with synth stabs and ambient breaks. 'Always Have Me' feat. Kellie Sae was a beautiful roll out of Moon Rockets holy trinity: piano, keyboard and drums, where 'Never Run Away' alongside Angelo Ferreri offered up a tougher and more electronic slice of groove alongside a deep vocal. The duo continued their collaboration with 'To The Infinity' drenched in keyboard goodness, uplifting pads and a big driving beat. 'Give Me Rhythm', released on Mood Funk Records alongside Angelo Ferreri, Corrado Rizza and Black Connection, had all the makings of a classic slice of House Music - soul, funk, energy and yes, rhythm in abundance! Well done Moon Rocket, here's wishing you an excellent year ahead...

Italian powerhouse duo Mattei & Omich had a great year. They chalked up a number of successful releases across none other than Glasgow Underground, Soulfuric, Milk & Sugar, Glitterbox plus their own labels Mattei & Omich, Metropolitan and Cut Rec Promos. Never ones to disappoint and with a sound that travels the full breadth of the house spectrum - always keeping us on our toes when it comes to what's coming next. Big releases included their rework of Quentin Harris & Jason Walker cut - 'Stronger' on Glitterbox bringing those tight, crips Mattei & Omich drums to the label. Their remix of 'You've Been Gone Too Long' saw the Milk & Sugar and Full Intention feat. Natasha Watts stayed high in our charts for weeks on end. 'Meppel West' on Glasgow Underground blew up when it dropped over the Summer seeing the pair lay down cut packed with their best signature sounds and style. They managed to team up with Re-Tide for, and despite the title, the brilliantly funky cut 'Dark Shadows' and landed a storming remix of John 'Julius' Knight & Roland Clark's 'This Is House'. Another standout was their rework of German DJ and producer duo Milk & Sugar with 'That Body' finding its way into setlists around the globe. The future remains bright for Mattei & Omich, proving yet again that there's no sound too far out of reach that they can't put their own stamp on.

That was yet another strong year for Low Steppa - who remains one of the most exciting house music artists out there right now. Riding high on the momentum from a phenomenal past couple of years, obviously 2020 put the brakes on smashing big-top tent arenas at festivals around the world and generally destroying dancefloors with a barrage of heaters and high-octane energy - however, Low Steppa, adapted and came through with a stream of successful releases whilst setting up studio at home for a series of well considered lockdown live streams. One major standout was the release of 'Boiling Point' his first album since 2015 LP 'Troubles' which landed on Armada Deep. The album demonstrated the breadth of his capabilities in the studio and delivered that signature Low Steppa vibe. His label Simma Black, continued to go from strength to strength - his own 'From The Vaults Vol.1' gave us three strong releases, all well received and supported by artists across the scene. 'Moments' saw Low Steppa's return to Defected, this time with a four-track package showcasing his skills as both producer and remixer. It didn't stop there though as the big releases on Defected just kept on coming - his remix of Jack Back & CeCe Roger's thunderous cut - 'Freedom' and Endor's 2019 smash, 'Pump It Up' all got the Low Steppa magic. There was a nod to the past though, as he also served up a remix of Michael Gray's classic anthem 'The Weekend' on Altra Moda Music. We know he must be itching to get back out there - and the first crowd he plays to is going to get full HEAT!

A huge jump following an equally huge year for legendary Chicago producer Mike Dunn! Up 16 places on 2019's rankings, his impressive three-decade career continues to break new ground. 2020 was the year that saw Mike join a prestigious list of artists, releasing his very own 'House Masters' compilation on Defected. His 2019 Classic Music Company debut - 'My House From All Angles', released to critical acclaim, was followed up by a set of highly-successful remixes from the likes of Mousse. T, Oliver Dollar, Luke Solomon and Snips. 'Strike It' was the Chicago mega-combination as Mike played homage to the ballroom scene with Ruff N' Stuff, a prominent figurehead and MC of Chicago's ballroom scene. Paired with a remix from fellow Chicago native, Honey Dijon, the release was supported far and wide, bringing yet another future classic to an already strong year for the verteran producer and playing firmly to the strengths of House Music, its origins and culture. He teamed up with N-YOU-UP for the electric 'Jack My Body' on Papa Records which lit up our charts and countless live streams throughout the year, It was also the year that Mike made his debut for Glitterbox with a masterclass in floaty, shimmery beats that scream DISCO BALL - in true style, it was a sophisticated affair filled with retro nostalgia and airy vocals. 'Natural High' will almost certainly go down as a classic for both Mike and the label as it continues to receive love and support almost a year on, marking its place as an ultimate good-time and feel good cut.

There's a reason why Michael Gray is one of the most respected and talented artists on the global dance music scene. His 20 year career has seen him achieve extensive and sustained success. A name often found riding high in our charts, whether it's one of his remixes, original productions as part of Full Intention alongside Jon Pearn - Michael Gray just keeps on delivering, year after year with 2020 being no exception! It was a fruitful year of successful releases for Michael, both within our House and Soul / Funk / Disco categories with releases on Nervous, Let There Be House, Easy Street, Champion Sounds and not forgetting his own Sultra Records. He teamed up with Mark Knight to bring the epic Jasper Street Co. cut 'Paradise' to a more dancefloor friendly format, bolstered with juiced up percussion and bass. Dropped a KILLER extended rework of one of the biggest classics of all time - Raze's 'Break 4 Love' to much acclaim and support from leading lights of the scene. His remix of Serious Intention's 'You Don't Know' climbed up our charts in September on East Street, as did his brilliant remix of Glen Horsborogh and IDA fLO's 'Switched On'. Yet another solid year from one of the most consistent and solid producers out there, here's to many more yet to come!

We couldn't be happier to welcome the remarkably talented Sebb Junior to this year's #3 spot! Jumping a staggering 24 places up from last year, it was another classic year for the man who dedicates his life to music - the founder of his beloved La Vie D'Artiste Music. It's also the year that Sebb Junior comes in at an incredibly strong ranking at #11 in this year's overall artists proving yet again that he really is one of Europe's biggest house acts. Sebb continues to demonstrate the breadth of his wide ranging capabilities both in the studio and in the DJ booth. His output touches on many of the different sub genres that our deeply diverse scene caters for - enabling him to have a playground to experiment and move freely. From original productions, remixes and new collaborations - it all happened this year. Standout track 'Stronger' on DVINE Sounds alongside the immensely talented Jess Bays and Jennifer Jamieson, which came as an uplifting, empowering and feel-good slice of House Music that we all needed. His remix of Makree's 'Piano Groove' on Let There Be House Records was a classic Sebb Junior driving-groove filled cut, and his joyous return to Glasgow Underground for remix duties on Kevin Mckay and David Penn's 'Hallelujah' blew up in our charts. He teamed up with the likes of Hatiras for their collaborative debut on Milk & Sugar Recordings for the 'Understanding' EP, and with Oggie for killer club weapon 'Feels Good' on Motive Records. Another standout moment was Sebb's remix of Ben Delay's excellent earworm 'Freedom' - adding his signature clean-cut production to an already strong Milk & Sugar release. It was also great to hear him drop a selection of his own funky house vibes on his own label this year in the form of 'The Feel Good' EP. Congratulations Sebb Junior, long may your journey continue!

2020 was yet another ridiculously good year in David Penn's story. Looking back at last year's achievements, you could easily have thought that those heights and summits couldn't possibly be reached again. Wrong! The successful owner of Madrid-based label Urbana Recordings and celebrated (and seemingly immortal) producer with more than two decades of releases under his belt, shot into 2020 bigger and harder than ever before. Reading this in December, he's already dropped 15 tracks within our Top 250 House Tracks of 2020, including #7 through to #11. It wasn't a time for slowing down for David as he managed to drop an anthem on pretty much each of the biggest labels in the scene. It was indeed also the year of live streams and virtual festivals - and even in these different times, his name still continued to dominate the biggest DJ's setlists. The huge 'Ain't Got No' released alongside KPD on Club Sweat gave us a strong low-down-on-the-dancefloor-in-a-circle-with-your-friends vibe, with his first ever collaboration with legendary vocalist, Roland Clark on 'The Power', delivering big percussive breaks amongst soul-laden house for the big rooms on Defected. Another classic that took us back in time for a much needed escape to elsewhere, was his remix of Heller & Farley Project's 'Ultra Flava' - and boy was it good. Not just hear that again, but so lovingly restored for a good shot at 2020. That wasn't just the only slice of brilliantly revamped House nostalgia - his remix of Blue Boy's 'Remember Me' brought even more much-loved sounds back to the fore. Other standout remixes included his takes on N-You-Up feat. Mike Dunn's 'Jack Your Body' on Papa Records, his remix of 'Soul Heaven' by The Goodfellas and Double Dee feat. Dany's 'Found Love' on Groove Culture. There was still time for another Club Sweat smasher in the shape of 'The Heat' - which was, no pun intended, fire. Thundering drums and his signature groove oscillating for 6 minutes of classic David Penn goodness. 2020 proved that there are no limits for David Penn, and we can't even begin to fathom what he's got in store for us next year!

It just had to be! After a year like that (peppermint) jam-packed with release after release showing an artist that's fully in his prime. Mousse T continues his unstoppable flow, despite the year's challenges, and as 2021 awaits just around the corner, he's a prolific figurehead of the music and culture that we love so dearly - and he's found a stride that is unstoppable. But before all of that, let's take a closer look at the year that was! First up - the numbers. Mousse T climbs to the top spot all the way from #4 last year. He's had 10 tracks in the Top 200 House Tracks of 2020, including both the #1 and #2 best-selling tracks, which is no easy feat and the bar has been exceptionally high. The year has seen him deliver not one, not two - but several number ones. With originals and remixes dropping left, right and centre - it's safe to say that it's been a strong year all round. Start to finish. Smash hit 'Testify' saw the German DJ and record producer add his magic touch to the triumphant Defected debut of Brooklyn artist DAVIE, via a tight Funky Shizzle Extended Remix, driven by deep powerful chords and rhythmic claps. He laid down the 90's licks with his Nineties Shizzle remix of Norman Doray and Sneaky Sound System's 'Tell The World' on CR2 and dropped, quite frankly, the funkiest piece of music that we've ever heard - his ridiculously good rework of Mike Dunn's 'If I Can't Get Down'. True inimitable Mousse T sound in action, and on fire. His take on 'Overboard' feat. Chaney was a masterclass of vocal reworks with a punchier and slightly futuristic edge before he sprinkled that disco shizzle over the much-loved Michael Gray anthem - 'The Weekend'. We have to give a special mention to his Glitterbox reworks - taking The Vision's classic smash 'Heaven' under his wing, before going FULL Mousse T and surpassing all expectations by creating a magnificent mashup of Selace's 'So Hooked On Your Lovin'' and 'Bad Habit' to form aptly title 'Hooked On Bad Habits'. Some don't even come close to achieving that in a career, but for Mousse T it's all in a year's work - *dusts hands*
